What is Sintered Stone?
Sintered Stone is also called Sintered Porcelain Slab, It is a manufactured large format slab made from a series of mineral materials. Combined with advanced production technology, it’s pressed by over 10,000 tons press, then fired at a high temperature of more than 1200 ºC. Each manufacturer will use different ingredients, Milestone’s sintered slabs mainly include minerals like marble, quartz, quartzite, feldspar, silica etc, which endows the sintered slabs with firmness and hardness.

Difference Between Sintered Stone & normal Porcelain Slab?
Both sintered stone and porcelain slab belong to the category of porcelain, but due to the difference in raw material formula, production environment and process, their performance & market value is different.
The classic component for porcelain slabs is clay, while sintered stone is mainly made from natural minerals like granite, marble, quartz, quartzite etc, which makes sintered stone more durable and hard.
The production of sintering stone needs to be pressed with a press of more than 10,000 tons, and then fired in a high temperature environment of more than 1200 degrees. While the press for porcelain slabs is only few thousand tons, and the sintering time is shorter than real sintered stone. Therefore, the sintered porcelain slabs has much higher performance than normal porcelain slabs, such as scratch resistance, wear resistance and high temperature resistance.
Sintered stone is mainly in large format, the thickness varies from 3mm to 20mm; the texture & pattern is mainly imitated from natural stone, the body and the surface color are consistent to form a whole-body effect; While for regular porcelain slabs, the size and specification is relatively smaller, and the thickness is usually 9-12mm; the patterns of porcelain slabs could also be rich, imitating stone grain, wood grain, metal grain and other personalized patterns; the texture and patterns of porcelain slabs is just on the 3mm surface, it doesn’t have the whole-body effect.
The performance of sinter stone is comprehensive and excellent, waterproof, fireproof, high temperature resistance, low temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, anti-seepage, anti-scratch, impact resistance, contact with food, no radiation, environmental protection, 100% recyclable, durable and do not fade.
The performance of normal porcelain slabs also varies from differnet types and manufacturers, but in comparison, the performance of porcelain slab is far less comprehensive and excellent than sintered stone.
Due to the high performance & plasticity, sintered stone could be further processed, It can be used as both decorative material and main structural material. It is widely used in countertops, desktops, sanitary, cabinet & wardrobe panel, walls, floors, facades and other fields.
The application range of porcelain is relatively narrow, mainly used for walls and floors.
