What is engineered marble?
Engineered marble, also known as synthetic marble, compound marble, or artificial marble, is a man-made material made primarily from natural marble chips and stone powder/dust, plus other stones or filler materials, bound together with organic resin. The material is created through vacuum mixing and high-pressure vibration forming, followed by processes such as room temperature curing. The product is both lightweight and strong, making it ideal for use in both residential and commercial projects. It is often used for indoor flooring and walls because of its durability and low maintenance. It uses fewer natural resources than real marble, so the use of artificial marble in your projects is both cost-effective and an environmentally conscious choice.
How is engineered marble made?
Artificial marble is created by crushing natural stones, mixing them with glue and stone material under vacuum mixing, and then forming them into rock blocks through high-pressure vibration. These blocks are then cut into construction stone slabs, tiles. Since its original form is solid block, it can also be carved to other product forms like steps, vanity tops, table tops and other sculptures like natural stone.
Artificial marble has good wear resistance, and its color closely resembles natural stone. In addition to retaining natural textures, different pigments can be added to enhance the diversity of its color.
Advantages of engineered marble
Due to the fact that compound marble is composed of more than 92% natural marble, it retains the noble and elegant characteristics of natural stone, and is more colorful, with uniform colors, precise sizes, compressive and wear resistance, good air permeability, environmentally friendly, and can be refurbished multiple times. It is an internationally popular green and environmentally friendly decorative material. It has the following characteristics:
It has the characteristics of small color difference on a large area, uniform and consistent appearance color and pattern, and good overall decoration effect, especially suitable for large-scale engineering projects, such as hotels, shopping malls, airports, railway stations, subways and other places, and are also ideal materials for home decoration.
Due to strict selection of materials, artificial marble has almost completely removed the radioactive elements. Artificial marble fully complies with the requirements of Class A decorative materials.
During the production process of synthetic stone, all hidden cracks and fissures are eliminated, making it safer during paving. After high-tech processing and advanced molding technology, the strength of compound marble is strengthened.
It can be embellished with other materials such as shells, glass, lenses, and mosaics; with a rich and complete variety, it can also be manufactured according to customer requirements and desired colors.
